After
8 years of success with Sonny’s Italia in the coastal area of Tynemouth,
Ken and Deborah Froggatt, along with their enthusiastic team of
professionals, branched out to
Gateshead
’s Jewel.
Sonny’s
locale is a brand new and exciting Italian/Mediterranean Restaurant in the
heart of the village which has undergone extensive refurbishment and
enlargement of an already long trading restaurant, all of which has been
carried out with no expense spared.
Being
a world class chef for 25 years and finding his love for Italian food, Ken
now conducts and orchestrates the business from outside the kitchen also,
enjoying both sides of service. Ken and Deborah are frequent visitors to
the Italian and French Riviera, they are always bringing back influences
enjoyed there and re-create them here alongside old classical favourites
and some signature dishes which have followed them around and have been
enjoyed by diners old and new since the days of ‘Vivante’ in Ponteland,
‘Bon Bistro’ and ‘Hot Box Café’ in Jesmond.

and now Sonny’s locale, Whickham serve modern and classical
Italian/Mediterranean food and drink in an inspiring atmosphere of comfort
and style all at very affordable prices. As well as their well balanced A
La Carte Menu they have 2 Course themed set menus exploring regional
cuisine from
Italy
and the
Mediterranean
which change frequently. They have selected Happy Hour pizza and pasta
dishes at £4.75 early evening, including Friday and Saturday lunch. Happy
Hour prices are also available on Sundays along with their succulent
Sunday Roast with all the trimmings for an unbelievable £5.90 along with
classical puddings “like Mama used to make” direct from their own
kitchen starting at £3.80.
Tuesday
is Mediterranean Banquet Night at Whickham with a selection of dishes from
around the Med. All you can enjoy for £9.90, children £5.50.
They
have an upstairs private room which can be used for lunches, dinners,
receptions and parties as well as for business meetings.
A
warm, cosmopolitan and inspiring ambience awaits you with obvious
attention to detail whilst retaining a classical rustic charm.
