WHICKHAM GARDENERS
ASSOCIATION - 2005
Our Association is based in Whickham, a couple of miles from Gateshead, Tyne &
Wear.
We aim to appeal to all people with a horticultural interest: from beginners to
experts, from practical gardeners to those who just like to look at flowers,
from young to more mature people, male or female.
While the image of gardening societies is that they are male dominated, most of
our members are female.
We are not a “deeply technical” organisation, more of a friendly, learning,
social association. Also, we encourage members and others to be more aware of
conservation and environmental aspects of life.
Our Association is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society, the Royal
National Rose Society, and the National Sweet Pea Society.
Admission to our Wednesday meetings (obviously excluding our AGM) is £0.50
including tea or coffee and biscuits. Our annual subscription is £4.00.
